Financial confidence remains high despite rising stress

More than half of wealthy Americans report feeling somewhat or very stressed about their finances, driven by inflation (62%), market volatility (44%) and changes in government policy (42%). At the same time, most remain confident, though gaps persist in areas such as tax planning and retirement readiness. In response, many are making adjustments. Thirty-eight percent are cutting back on luxury spending, while others are increasing retirement savings (30%) and investments (24%).

Diversification and advice shape financial strategy

Wealthy Americans continue to build wealth through a mix of investments (89%) and income from work (75%), with more drawing from multiple sources such as business ownership and equity compensation. As finances become more complex, three in four now work with a financial advisor, citing expertise, preparedness and reduced stress as key benefits.

Retirement expectations rise as planning gaps remain

The report shows the average expected retirement age has increased to 65, while savings remain flat at $1.6 million. Non-retired individuals estimate they will need $4.1 million to retire comfortably, highlighting a gap between expectations and current savings. Legacy planning also remains uneven. While most feel prepared to transfer wealth, many lack formal plans, with half reporting they do not have an estate plan.
